Discover how women over 40 conquer the world
Women like you are rewriting the rules...
You've lived a storied life.
Each year, a chapter rich with triumphs, lessons, and growth.
And yet, society dares to whisper that your time has passed?
Nonsense.
Your time, my friend, is perpetual—cyclical like the seasons, each with its own beauty and purpose.
Which brings me to the point.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus—ever heard of her?
Of course, you have.
“Seinfeld”.
“Veep”.
Legend.
At 60, she turned the tables and asked, "What about the wisdom of women like me?"
Her podcast, “Wiser Than Me,” premiered last April and was named Apple Podcasts’ show of the year for 2023.
On it, Louis-Dreyfus and well-known women, including authors, actresses, musicians and activists, discuss the joys and the sorrows of aging.
“We’re certainly not in the habit of listening to old women who have had life experience,” Louis-Dreyfus, now 63, remembers thinking at the time. “I mean, I would posit that our culture is much more inclined to listen to the wisdom of old men, specifically old white men.”
This isn't about defying age; it's about defining it. It's a call to arms, to take the wisdom accrued and turn it into a symphony heard across horizons.
Because I wanted you to enjoy Julia's excellent interview with the New York Times recently, I am sharing the link to the full article, even if you are not an NYT subscriber.
My gift to you for the vigorous start of the week.
Warm regards,
Vanja
