How I Almost Lost Myself... And the Simple Shift That Saved Me
Ever feel like life just flips a switch and suddenly… you disappear?
I know it all too well. One minute, you’re handling life’s usual ups and downs, and then in a split second, you’re drowning in a storm. Everything becomes about someone else.
That’s where I was when my mom broke her hip several weeks ago.
She was immobilized, and overnight, I went from being her daughter to her full-time nurse. My entire life narrowed down to one mission:
make sure Mom was okay. Every. Single. Day.
From sunrise to sundown, it was endless: helping her to the bathroom, bathing her, making sure she was comfortable, waiting for therapists to arrive, nursing her, cooking, cleaning, washing, you name it …
And in between all that? There was nothing left for me.
I didn’t sit down unless it was to force down a quick meal. I barely had the energy to shower, let alone do anything to take care of myself. My body ached from all the running around, my mind?… completely overwhelmed. Exhausted didn’t even begin to describe it.
Sound familiar?
When life hits us with a crisis—whether it’s a loved one’s illness, an accident, or some other disaster—it’s like we flip into survival mode. We stop being people with needs, dreams, or emotions. We become machines, fueled by pure grit, doing whatever it takes to keep things together.
But here’s the scary part: In the process, we forget ourselves. Completely.
And that’s exactly what happened to me.
I love my mom more than anything, but after weeks of this... I was hanging by a thread. My back was killing me, I could barely breathe, and mentally? I was ready to snap.
But amidst all the chaos, there was one thing that kept me from completely losing myself.
Mindfulness.
No, not the fluffy, feel-good stuff you see on Instagram. I’m talking about real mindfulness—practical tools to pull you back from the brink when everything’s falling apart. For me, it started with a simple body scan after a bit of yoga. I only had 10 minutes to spare, but that tiny slice of time?
It saved me.
It was a lifeline. Not just for my body—but for my sanity.
Those moments of mindfulness gave me the clarity to breathe again. They helped me stay grounded when my entire world felt like it was spiraling out of control.
And now? I want to share that with you.
Because if you’re anything like me—constantly giving to others, holding everything together—you need this. You need to reclaim that piece of yourself that’s been pushed aside, neglected, and worn down by life’s demands.
That’s why I’m hosting a live, boutique workshop—to teach you the exact techniques that helped me survive this whirlwind. I’ll show you how to use mindfulness and presence in ways that are practical, powerful, and doable even when life feels impossible.
Here’s just a taste of what you’ll discover:
How to create moments of calm in the middle of chaos (Yes, even when you think you don’t have time)…
The secret to avoiding burnout while still showing up for those who need you…
How to shift your mindset so you can break free from overwhelm and take back control of your own well-being…
Proven techniques to recharge mentally and physically—giving you the strength to keep going without sacrificing yourself in the process…
Honestly, I thank God every single day that I had these skills. Without them, I wouldn’t have made it through.
And now, I want you to have them too. Because you deserve care, just as much as anyone else.
Imagine being able to face the chaos without losing yourself… Imagine feeling calm, even when life is swirling around you. You don’t have to just survive—you can thrive, even in the toughest moments.
We’ll walk through this together, one step at a time.
Warmly,
Vanja
